Capacitor Bank or Cap Bank is used to control PF (Power Factor) value.and reactive power (OC) according to the design requirements.
A capacitor is an electrical device that functions to improve the Pf (Power factor) value and help supply reactive power to compensate for the electrical system.
Capacitors are cheaper than synchronous machining, easy to install, low self-loss power (0.5 w/kVAR).
Installing parallel capacitors into the electrical system to improve the power factor to a higher level.
The benefits of Capacitor Bank are as follows:
1. Reduce power loss (Reactive Power)
2. Reduce the loss of current flowing In electrical systems
3. Voltage Drop
4. Increase the capacity to receive and dispense more electric crates, increase the load
5. Reduce the Power Factor penalty from the Electricity Authority
6. Reduce electricity loss in the form of heat in wires and transformers: Installing a capacitor bank will reduce power loss in wires and transformers, thereby saving energy and reducing heat generated in electrical equipment.
The Electricity Authority will start charging a fine in the case of the Power factor only if the electricity user meets the following two conditions.
1. Electricity users of the 3rd category or higher, namely electricity users from small businesses or above, which refers to electricity users with electricity demand of 30kW or more (this is the average electricity demand in the highest 15 minutes in a month, not the electricity consumption because the electricity consumption is measured in units, which is kW x hours of electricity consumption, unlike the electricity consumption demand).
2.When the average Kva reactive power demand in the 15 minutes is maximum, it exceeds 61.97% of the average KW electricity demand in the 15 minutes maximum.
